What does OCIE(TM) do?
How does it work?
OCIE handles data from where?
OCIE functions independtly from the application(s) that create the data and the type of hardware system involved. So it is your network archive utility.
OCIE handles information coming from mainframes, mini-computers, LAN servers and PCs. This data is then stored into a common archive available to all people on the network based upon security parameters granted by the system administrator.
As the System Administrator, what do I have to do?
To use OCIE, simply redirect your computer output (from mainframes, minicomputers, servers and PCs) to the OCIE server or give OCIE the file that currently goes to the fiche system/service.
Let us help you to define your reports so OCIE can automatically recognize them. Once this is done, OCIE will automatically manage your reports for as long as needed.
Assign aging schedules for the reports to tell OCIE how long to keep the reports and where they are to be stored.
What happens to the data?
Your data is automatically archived together in one tool and made available to everyone regardless of its age. The OCIE server will distribute information as requested to departments and individuals (using security). Your data is typically kept at your site on the OCIE server using magnetic storage and is automatically encrypted and moved to an Optical Worm archive or off-site to the OCIE Service Center at Donnell Systems for permanent archive and disaster recovery.
What is needed to view the data?
OCIE's information is available to Window PCs, ASCII terminals, and X-compliant stations that are on the network or connected by dial-up. All information and usage is controlled by custom security for your operation.
What else?
OCIE is your off-site storage and disaster recovery service and, at your option, may even be used as the hot-site back-up. Usage is intuitive and your new employees may be trained in minutes.
